About Cumberland Green Bioregional Council

ABOUT COMMUNICATION ON THIS SITE Updated 2/14/08 by Cindy
This site offers opportunity to share our knowledge. (Be sure to press the link to "added past pages" for more!)
Feel free to write about your ways of practicing sustainable green living. We all want folks to understand what we write and we all want to be able to understand what we are reading, so let's help each other with editing and clarifying. Members can add a page, post on the message board, or upload files of relevant material. Photographs of your projects or how to photographs are welcome as well.

Here are some guidelines for writing:

  • If you use color for some of your writing, avoid using blue, since links are blue.
  • For ease of reading on-line, break page up into short paragraphs.
  • Use the check spelling feature

For Folks who have been associated with the Cumberland Greens for a long time:
This site makes it easier for us to communicate and collaborate. Please notify other folks and tell them they need to sign on and check the site from time to time. It is good to check the calendar and messages. We will email notifications of Events from this website. But not everything happening will be an "Event".

Messages to individuals
Go to Members on left side bar, find who you want to contact and press the picture of the mailing envelope. This envelope button shows on the message board too.

To Email the group or to leave message on board
Go to Messages on left side bar, and press Messages
There are several tabs on top of page. One for Messages; one for email.

When to use Message Board. When to Use Email
There is no way to be sure everyone gets your message. There are at least two reasons why this is so. Some members chose the option to only receive notification of Meet-up Events. The envelope that pops up by their name has red slash across it.

The other reason is that folks have to come onto this site and go to messages to find one.
You can leave a message at both places.

CAUTION ABOUT SENDING MASS EMAILS
The Organizer, Cindy, am concerned that if people receive emails they find annoying, they might turn off their individual email (or leave this meetup entirely).

Here are some criteria:
For events, put a note on the Calendar and or message board.
If you think the event is very important for group to know about, contact the organizer, Cindy or assistant organizer, Martin. If we agree with you, we will post the event as a Cumberland Green Bioregional Council Event.

Use the Message board if you are wanting or offering hands-on- experience. Be specific as you can. You can email Cindy if you want help with wording or developing your idea.

The message board can be used as a group discussion forum as well.

Use of the group email feature after a meetup event.
This feature is really convenient. You click options and click the meetup event and chose who to mail by their RSVP status and email them about the event, or discussions that arise from the event.
