FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RARELY SEEN CULT-CLASSIC, "THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS," TO BE SCREENED AT THE HISTORIC BELCOURT THEATRE ON EARTH DAY Musical Score Composed by Stevie Wonder and the Plants, Themselves, at "An Evening with EarthMatters Tennessee" Fundraising Event on April 22, 2008 Nashville, Tenn.?April 14, 2008? On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, the historic Belcourt Theatre, (located in Hillsboro Village), will host ?An Evening with EarthMatters Tennessee,? a fundraising event for EarthMatters Tennessee (www.earthmattersnetworks.com). The Earth Day event, beginning with a reception at 5:30 PM, will feature the 1979 cult-classic film, ?The Secret Life of Plants,? based on the 1973 NY Times #1 Best Seller by the same title. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the film that investigates the physical, emotional and spiritual relations between plants and man as revealed by the latest discoveries of scientists?plants experiencing emotion and having the ability to communicate with human and other forms of life in a recognizable manner. As a matter of fact, plants contributed to the film?s musical soundtrack composed by Lifetime Achievement Grammy® Award winner, Stevie Wonder. The choreographed audio and video performance was built incrementally, from one plant up to six monitored plants, while adding from one to six dancers wearing EEG and EMG sensor/transmitters. The result was an audible, live musical score, some of which is featured in the film. In addition to the screening of ?The Secret Life of Plants,? the evening will include food provided by Whole Foods and drinks (beer to be provided by Yazoo Brewing Company), musical performances and a short panel discussion and Q&A. Musical performers include Grammy ® nominated artist Adrienne Young (www.adrienneyoung.com), Sara Beck (www.sarabeck.net), Kenny Mullins (www.kennymullins.com) and ?Earthman? Lanny Smit h (www.earthman.tv). Shannon Sanders, two-time Grammy ® award winner and writer/producer for Indie Arie, will emcee the green event. Panelists for the evening include Glenn Christman, a.k.a., The Gentle Arborist, Umaru Jutte, Holistic Consultant, Cherokee Lewis, Herbalist and Gwynelle Dismukes, author of Black 2 the Future. Sponsors for the event include Yazoo Brewing Company, Whole Foods, Gardens of Babylon, Alkebulan Images Bookstore, Green Power Switch, All Seasons Garden Supply, Earth Savers, Essencetree, Earthman TV, Worms Way, Cause & Affect Wellness Spa and Katy K Ranch Dressing. Tickets are ON SALE NOW at www.belcourt.org for $20. Tickets are limited, so make sure to reserve a seat today! Tickets will be available at the door, $20 and $10 for students with identification.
